My name is Rebecca Wilson, and for the past 3½ years I have been fighting the recurrence of Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. What began as a diagnosis eight years ago has become the hardest journey of my life—one that has tested me physically, emotionally, and financially every single day.
Throughout these eight years, I have done everything I possibly could to support myself. I worked multiple jobs, pushed through treatment when my body begged me to rest, and refused to let cancer define me. I have always believed that if I worked hard enough, I could carry this burden on my own.
Asking for help has never come easily to me.
The only time I ever accepted financial support was in 2022, when a fundraiser was created by a dear friend—who has since sadly passed away—to help cover the cost of preserving my fertility before treatment. Beyond that, I have always found a way to keep going on my own.
Creating this fundraiser is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. It fills me with guilt because I’ve always wanted to be the one helping others, not the one asking for help. But cancer has reached a point where determination alone is no longer enough.
Recent progression of my cancer has forced me to make difficult treatment decisions. I now need to travel to a leading specialist cancer center for advanced care, where only part of my medical expenses are covered by insurance. In addition, I require ongoing treatment with a specialist whose care is only available through private payment.
After nearly a decade of surgeries, chemotherapy, scans, medications, travel, and countless medical appointments, the financial burden has become overwhelming. Alongside these medical costs are the everyday bills that don’t stop simply because you’re fighting cancer.
Every donation—no matter how small—helps lift a weight from my shoulders. Every share gives my story the chance to reach someone else. Every prayer reminds me that I am not facing this battle alone.
I wish this fundraiser wasn’t necessary. I wish I could continue carrying everything by myself. But the truth is, I can’t anymore.
Right now, I need the chance to focus on what matters most: staying alive, continuing treatment, and spending more precious time with the people I love.
Your kindness isn’t just helping pay for treatment. It’s giving me hope on the days I struggle to find it. It’s giving me the opportunity to keep fighting for my future.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing beside me when I need it most.
